We stock and install FAAC-compatible hinge and roller replacement parts for most residential FAAC swing gate systems, with installed prices in Ventura typically running $240 to $590 depending on whether it’s a single pivot point or a full hardware refresh. Most hinge and roller replacements on FAAC gates are done same-day because we keep the common sizes on the truck. Owners usually discover the problem the same way: the gate starts dragging on the driveway, makes a grinding sound when it opens, or sags enough that the latch no longer lines up with the post. That sag is the hinge telling you it’s done.

Cole Rafferty has replaced enough corroded FAAC hardware along the Ventura Pier corridor to know exactly what salt air does to steel that wasn’t rated for coastal exposure. We’ll tell you what’s worn, what it costs, and what we’re putting in before a single bolt comes out.
Which FAAC Models This Applies To
FAAC swing gate openers ship with a handful of hinge and roller configurations depending on the model line and when it was made. The 400 series (402, 412, 415, 422) is the most common residential line we see in Ventura, and those use a top pivot hinge and a bottom roller guide that runs along a steel track or directly on the gate’s own bottom edge. The 750, 760, and 770 series (often found on longer or heavier gates) use similar hardware but larger-diameter pins and rollers, so a 400-series hinge will not swap onto a 770 without modification. That’s a compatibility gotcha worth knowing before you order parts online.
If you’re not sure which series you have, open the plastic cover on the operator arm or the motor housing and look for the silver FAAC label. The model number is stamped on it. If the label is faded or gone, measure the hinge pin diameter: the 400 series uses a 20mm pin, the 750/760/770 series uses a 25mm pin. That one measurement saves a lot of guesswork.
On the OEM versus aftermarket question: FAAC OEM hinges and rollers are well-made but priced at a premium, and in Ventura’s salt air the failure point is almost always the bearing or the pin surface, not the casting itself. We install quality aftermarket equivalents that match the OE dimensions and load rating for most residential models, and we’re upfront about which parts we’re using. If your gate is commercial or unusually heavy, we’ll recommend OEM. Warden Gate Repair Ventura is an independent service provider, not affiliated with FAAC, so our only loyalty is to what holds up on your gate.

Signs Your FAAC Hinge & Roller Replacement Is Failing
- The gate sags visibly at the latch end. This is the classic hinge failure symptom. The top hinge pin or its bushing has worn enough that the gate’s weight is now pulling the leaf downward, and the latch misses the striker by half an inch or more.
- A grinding or scraping sound during the opening or closing cycle. That’s usually the bottom roller running on a flattened bearing or the roller wheel itself has seized and is being dragged sideways across the track instead of rolling.
- The gate hesitates or shudders at a specific point mid-travel. A worn roller with a flat spot creates a predictable hitch every time the gate passes that spot, and the opener motor has to work harder to push through it, which shortens motor life.
- Rust staining or flaking at the hinge joint. In Ventura, ocean air accelerates corrosion on unprotected steel. If you see orange staining weeping from the hinge pin area, the internal bearing is likely already pitted and on borrowed time.
- The gate is harder to push manually than it used to be. With the opener disengaged, a healthy FAAC gate should swing with one hand. If you’re leaning into it, the hinge and roller assembly is binding, and that strain translates directly to premature motor and control board failure.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Ventura, a single FAAC hinge replacement with labor runs $180 to $320. A bottom roller replacement runs $140 to $240. A full hardware refresh (top hinge, bottom roller, and all mounting hardware on both leafs) typically lands between $450 and $590. The spread is driven by gate weight, whether the post or gate frame needs repair at the mounting point, and whether we’re installing OEM or a quality aftermarket equivalent.
Every price we quote includes the part, the labor, and cleanup. The written price is agreed before any work starts, so there are no surprise line items at the end. If the same part fails within the 365-Day Done Right Promise window, the return visit and the replacement are free. We don’t charge extra to come out to Ventura, and we don’t charge a diagnostic fee that later gets swallowed by the repair total. You pay for what’s on the written estimate, nothing else.
DIY or Call Us?
If you want to know what’s wrong before you spend anything, you can safely do two things: disengage the opener and swing the gate by hand to feel where it’s binding, and visually check whether the hinge pin is centered in its bushing or riding cocked to one side. That tells you something. What you should not do is unbolt a loaded hinge from a sagging gate. A residential gate leaf can weigh 300 to 600 pounds, and the hinge is the only thing holding it to the post. When the top hinge comes loose, the leaf drops or twists, and that is exactly how people lose fingers or worse. We have responded to gates held up by ratchet straps and, once, by a bungee cord. The homeowner was very proud of the bungee cord. It was not holding.
If your FAAC gate is sagging, grinding, or leaning, call (831) 226-7089. We’ll schedule a visit, send you the technician’s name and photo before we arrive, and hand you a written price before any work starts. Tell me exactly what it’s doing, and I’ll tell you exactly what it costs to fix it.
FAQs
In Ventura’s coastal air, FAAC hinge and roller assemblies on a residential gate typically last 7 to 12 years before showing meaningful wear, with bottom rollers failing first because they carry the gate’s travel load and collect more moisture and debris. Gates closer to the water tend to land on the shorter end of that range. Annual lubrication of the roller bearings and hinge pins extends the lifespan meaningfully. Call (831) 226-7089 for a quote and we’ll tell you whether your hardware can be saved or is ready for replacement.
A worn hinge pin or bushing cannot be reliably repaired, because the bearing surfaces are hardened and once they pit or oval out, the only permanent fix is replacement. In some cases we can replace just the bushing or the pin rather than the whole hinge assembly, which lowers the cost. The honest answer depends on what we see when the hinge is disassembled. Call (831) 226-7089 and we’ll give you a straight answer after one visit.
A typical single-leaf FAAC hinge and roller replacement takes 90 minutes to two hours on site. A full two-leaf hardware refresh takes two to three hours. The gate needs to be properly supported during the swap, and we take the time to check the post mounting points and the gate frame before anything goes back together. Call (831) 226-7089 and we’ll schedule a visit that fits your day.
We stock the common FAAC 400-series and 750/760/770-series hinge and roller sizes on our service vehicles, so most Ventura jobs are completed same-day without a second trip. We also stock compatible parts for LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls gate systems. If your gate needs a less common size, we’ll order it and return to install it, and you’ll know the timeline before we leave the first visit. Call (831) 226-7089 to confirm availability for your model.
If your FAAC gate is sagging, grinding, or getting harder to open, don’t wait until the motor burns out pushing against bad hardware. Call Warden Gate Repair Ventura at (831) 226-7089. We’ll send a background-checked, photo-badged technician whose name you’ll know before the doorbell rings, and we’ll hand you a written price before any work begins.
