If your Viking keypad or intercom has stopped responding, we can usually repair or replace it for between $240 and $480 installed, and most jobs are done the same day we arrive. That price includes the part, the labor, and a written quote you approve before we touch a single wire. We stock Viking-compatible keypads, intercom modules, and the wiring connectors that fail most often on our trucks, so we’re not chasing parts across Ventura County while your gate sits dead.

Most Ventura homeowners discover the problem the same way: the keypad beeps but the gate doesn’t move, or the intercom crackles and dies mid-conversation with a delivery driver. Sometimes it’s the keypad itself. More often, it’s corrosion at the connection points, especially within a mile or two of the coast where salt air works its way into every exposed terminal. The symptom looks simple. The fix usually is too, once you’ve seen the inside of a few hundred of these units.
Which Viking Models This Applies To
We service the full Viking line most commonly installed on Ventura residential and commercial gates: the K-1200 series keypads, K-1900 series keypads, C-200 entry controllers, and the E-30/E-50 intercom and entry phone systems. If your unit has a Viking part number printed on the board or housing, bring it to the call and we’ll match it exactly. No part number? We identify it by terminal layout, mounting pattern, and the software version listed on the power-up screen.
One compatibility gotcha worth knowing: Viking intercom systems often pair a phone-line-based entry controller with a separate power supply and a remote keypad. The failure we see most often in Ventura isn’t the keypad itself, it’s the 12V DC transformer feeding the whole system. If we replace the keypad without checking the transformer, we’ve fixed the symptom, not the problem. We check both before we quote anything. As for OEM versus aftermarket: for Viking keypads specifically, we recommend OEM or Viking-certified replacements. The aftermarket units we’ve tested don’t always match the entry controller’s polling voltage, and that leads to intermittent “beeps but doesn’t open” behavior that’s hard to diagnose. We stock OEM Viking keypad and intercom parts, and we’re an independent service provider, not a Viking affiliate.

Signs Your Viking Keypad & Intercom Repair Is Failing
- The keypad beeps but the gate won’t open. This usually means the keypad is sending a signal but the relay in the entry controller isn’t closing, or the wiring between the two has corroded. In Ventura’s marine layer, we see green corrosion on terminals within two to three years of install if the housing wasn’t sealed properly.
- Some buttons work and others don’t. The membrane keypads on older Viking K-1200 units wear unevenly. The most-used digits (usually 1, 2, 3, and the pound key) fail first. This is a keypad replacement, not a wiring issue.
- The intercom buzzes or hums constantly. That’s almost always a failing power supply or a ground loop between the intercom and the gate operator. A constant hum is the sound of AC ripple getting past a dying capacitor, and it won’t fix itself.
- One side of the intercom conversation is dead. If you can hear the visitor but they can’t hear you, the microphone element in the call station has failed. If they can hear you but you can’t hear them, it’s the speaker. Both are replaceable on most Viking intercoms without swapping the whole unit.
- The system works intermittently, usually after rain. Water intrusion at the keypad gasket or the intercom box is the usual culprit. Once moisture gets inside, the circuit board traces start to oxidize. If this has been happening for more than a few weeks, the board is usually too far gone to save.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
For Viking keypad repair in Ventura, you’re typically looking at $240 to $340 installed for a full keypad replacement with a new OEM unit. Viking intercom repair runs higher, usually $300 to $480 installed, because the intercom station is larger, the mounting is more involved, and there’s often a separate power supply to check and replace. If we can repair the existing unit, for example by replacing a failed microphone element or re-terminating corroded wiring, that typically lands at the low end of the range.
The written price we give you covers the part, the labor, the trip, and any new connectors or sealant we use. There are no surprise line items at the end. Every Viking repair we do includes the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within a year, the return visit is free. We state that in writing before any work starts, which is how it should be.

DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things a Ventura homeowner can safely check. Is the breaker for the gate or entry system tripped? Is the keypad visibly cracked or filled with moisture? Is the intercom handset seated properly? If you find a tripped breaker, reset it once and see if the system comes back. If it trips again, stop there, that’s a short, not a fluke.
Beyond that, we recommend a trained technician. Viking keypads and intercoms are low-voltage, but they tie into your gate operator’s control board, and shorting the wrong terminal can take out a $300 to $500 board in one move. We’ve also seen a few Ventura gates held together with, honest to you, a bungee cord and a bent coat hanger. The keypad was fine. The gate wasn’t. Whatever your system is doing, call us at (831) 226-7089 and describe it before you start poking at wires. Tell me exactly what it’s doing, and I’ll tell you exactly what it costs to fix it.
FAQs
In Ventura’s coastal climate, we typically see 6 to 10 years from a Viking keypad and 8 to 12 years from a Viking intercom. Units installed within a mile of the ocean, or on a west-facing wall that takes direct sun and salt spray, trend toward the shorter end of that range. The keypad membrane and the intercom’s exterior speaker are the first components to go.
Sometimes. If the failure is a corroded terminal, a bad microphone or speaker element, or a loose connection, we can usually repair it for less than a full replacement. If the circuit board itself is oxidized or the keypad membrane is worn through, replacement is the honest fix. We’ll show you the failed part before we recommend either path.
Most Viking keypad replacements take 45 to 90 minutes on site. Intercom replacements run 1 to 2 hours, depending on the mounting surface and whether the power supply needs to be replaced alongside. If you send us a photo of the unit before we arrive, we can usually bring the exact part and finish in one visit.
We stock Viking-compatible keypads, intercom modules, power supplies, and replacement microphone and speaker elements on our trucks. We also carry parts for the other gate brands we service: LiftMaster, Mighty Mule, and Ghost Controls. If your Viking part is an uncommon variant, we can usually source it from our Ventura supplier within one business day. Call (831) 226-7089 and we’ll check stock before you wait around.
